The Power of Design

I am proudly on the board of a nonprofit organization named Pen + Napkin, we furnish homes of families transitioning out of homelessness all around the Los Angeles area. We have found that 50% of families who transition into housing end up back on the street and/or back into the system, with furniture that statistic drops to 1%.

My interest in this organization was bred from my continual observation of waste created within the production and design worlds. I also, like many Los Angeles residents, have a desire to positively impact the growing homeless population here in our city. It has been incredibly rewarding to utilize my skillset as a designer to affect these families in need. What we do is create a sense of home, and that keeps families together, healthy, and inspired.

Pen + Napkin relies on physical furniture and monetary contributions to sustain our initiatives. Volunteers within our organization and for family installations are always wanted and needed.
